He’s been one of the best clutch performers in the history of the end hole. He’s won the Masters three times, the U.S. Open and the British Open, as well as earning bronze in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Johnson has achieved success at both the professional and recreational levels. One of the most impressive finishes to his career came at the U.S. Open when he birdied the final hole and won the tournament. He’s one of just eight players to win the PGA Tour’s championship in consecutive events. Also, he is one of only four players to win the British Open, the U.S. Open and the European Tour in the same year. All these endings have made him one of the more decorated players on the tour, with a record of 14 career wins, second only to Jack Nicklaus.
Career Development: Johnson has had the experience and determination to be a consistent top player, winning the PGA tour’s primary event three times and the world dual poker tournament once. But he has always been looking for even more major championship success. Dustin is also the different player to reach the top twenty on the PGA Tour ladder, which is more than any other golfer in history. He is also the oldest golfer to achieve the top twenty, which only proves just how far he has come.
So, how did this humble golfer with no golf experience turn into one of the best and most decorated players on the tour? It all began with an injury. When Johnson was only a junior, a teammate asked him to play some golf after school, but Johnson could not get much practice due to a bad back. Afterward, Johnson went to his pga and told him about his back issue and requested that the plan help arrange some courses with a local pro.
That’s where it all began. The golfer, who’s from Florida, had previously played with different Florida-based tour experts, but did not have much success because the lessons were just a few minutes long. Johnson actually took up golf, changed his name and moved to North Palm Beach, Florida, which helped him get more time on the driving range. After he was ready to step into the professional world of golfing, he received a number of his first-team All-American recognition in the U.S. Open, where he finished second behind Mike Weir. Dustin Johnson is now the only golfer in the history of the sport to have his first career top-five finish, plus his next career top-ten finish, in the exact same season as another all-time great, Bobby Jones.
